Election Worker Job Fair - May 26, 2016

Shelby Township residents are invited to attend Shelby Township Clerk's Office Election Worker Job Fair on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. to learn more about what it takes to serve as an election inspector.

Election workers are vital to administering elections and are compensated for their time on Election Day.

Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Grot was recognized at the Aug. 4 Board of Trustees meeting for meeting the program criteria to obtain the prestigious Certified Michigan Municipal Clerk designation.

Shelby Township allows "so help me God" in oaths

The recent U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing prayers before public meetings has prompted
one Metro Detroit clerk to add a call to a higher power to the township's oath of office.
Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Grot won approval from the board of trustees to give officeholders the option of
ending their sworn oath with "so help me God."
